Director of Geology

Mr. Ahmed BENLAKHDIM Senior engineer, graduated from the National School of Mineral Industry of Rabat in 1989;

34 years of experience in the fields of Public Administration, having undertaken:

  • Field work and project management related to geological, mining and hydraulic research;
  • Contribute to the preparation of the sector budget, financial reports and performance indicators.

 Currently Mr. Benlakhdim holds the position of Director of Geology, Mines and Hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.

 Central Director of Geology between 2015-2024;

  • Preparation and implementation of the national roadmap for the development of geological infrastructure in Morocco 2015-2025;
  • Development of the National Geology Plan 2021-2030 with strategic orientations aimed at breathing new life into the field of geosciences in Morocco.
  • From 2005 to 2015, Mr. Benlakhdim held the position of Regional Director of the Department of Energy Transition for the Regions of Dakhla, Laayoune and Casablanca.

The Regional Director is responsible for ensuring the promotion and development of the energy and mining sector and its effective contribution to the regional socio-economic fabric through:

  • Rigorous diagnosis of the sector;
  • Permanent cooperation and availability with territorial authorities, elected officials and investors;

• Adequate projection of the energy and mining policy of the Department of Energy Transition at the regional level.
