Christine Duchesneau, President and Chief Executive Officer and member of the board of directors of the Institut national des mines du Québec (INMQ), was appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Government of Quebec in January 2022. She directs the actions of the organization mandated to update the Quebec mining training offer in terms of vocational, college and university levels.
Ms. Duchesneau leads the work, studies and projects for the mining sector on various topics such as the supervision of control rooms in the mining sector, the impact of the processing of critical and strategic minerals on mining training (lithium and graphite) and the recognition of prior learning and skills for experienced workers in industry. She also helped demystify the mining sector and its training in order to actively participate in the effort to attract young and old into the training programs leading to the mining sector by running the website Québec.ca/mining-training. Holder of a master’s degree in organization management, a graduate diploma in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Ms. Duchesneau has also worked at the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Solidarity for almost 25 years.
