Mostafa BENZAAZOUA

Mostafa Benzaazoua obtained his Ph.D. in Environment & Geosciences in 1996, at the Geology School of the University of Lorraine, Nancy – France. After 25 years of an academic career at the University of Quebec (UQAT, Canada), Dr. BENZAAZOUA joined Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P, Morocco) as Full Professor. He is leading presently its Geology and sustainable mining institute (GSMI).
He held a Canada Research Chair entitled « Mine wastes integrated management » and co-hold the International IDRC Research chair on « Mine and industrial waste management ». Dr. Benzaazoua’s background covers applied mineralogy and geochemistry. His main research topics are mining environment, ore and waste processing, mine waste management/valorization, mining site rehabilitation. He developed several sustainable technologies and solutions (TRL 1 to 9) for the mining industry. Until 2024, He published over 280 publications in highly ranked journals and trained over 50 PhDs.
