University of Quebec (UQAT, Canada), Dr. BENZAAZOUA joined Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P, Morocco) as Full Professor. He is leading presently its Geology and sustainable mining institute (GSMI). He held a Canada Research Chair entitled « Mine wastes integrated management » and co-hold the International IDRC Research chair on « Mine and industrial waste management ». Dr. Benzaazoua’s background covers applied mineralogy and geochemistry.

His main research topics are mining environment, ore and waste processing, mine waste management/valorization, mining site rehabilitation. He developed several sustainable technologies and solutions (TRL 1 to 9) for the mining industry. Until 2024, He published over 280 publications in highly ranked journals and trained over 50 PhDs.
